Informing customers of TWW disposal regulations
California wholesalers and retailers who sell treated wood products typically are not subject to the regulations regarding TWW disposal. However, should a retail location offer cutting services for treated wood products, they would be required to meet the regulations for California business in disposing of sawdust or cuttings, which will be regarded as TWW.
Distributors purchasing treated wood products from treating companies will received the required notification shown in the Wood Preservers section.
In the spirit of customer service, it is recommended that retailers refer those purchasing treated wood to review this site, TWWDisposal.org. In many cases, the projects customers are buying wood for will entail dismantling older wood structures, which can become TWW that must be properly disposed.
